IMDb vs. Coming Soon

For this post we were instructed to do a compare/contrast post. We had to pick two websites based upon our blog topic. IMDb is one of the most famous of the sites where you can find information on a new movie that you would like to see. Internet Movie Database (IMDb) can tell you the year the film was made, who was starring in it, how much money it made.

Another site you might want to check out is www.comingsoon.net. This site is as well very informative for movies. The only probable difference being is that they give you release dates for the next few years. Author of the reviews on the website, Scott Chitwood, makes sure that you know what to expect when you go to see your film of choice.

Let's look at some similarities shall we? Comparing the two sites is pretty easy. IMDb and Coming Soon are alike when it comes to making sure you know who will be starring in the film. For instance if you are going to see What To Expect When You're Expecting this Friday night, you might want to check and see what they are both saying. Afterward, you can probably go with your gut and see it if you still want to.

Another similarity is that they allow you to freely put your comment on the site. Let's just say you went to see Pirates: Band of Misfits last month and you thought it was pretty good for the kids to see, you could possibly put, "My kids and I laughed until we cried.", or, "Anyone who has small children between the ages of 5 and 15 should see this movie." However there are people that don't really care to much for the films they have seen. If you didn't like the film you could put, "The film was a big upset for me and my family. It was the biggest waste of money ever."

A difference however is that not all movies for this year and next year are listed. The Dark Knight Rises, was listed for on Coming Soon along with the cast and crew for the movie. However on IMDb, the movie and many more are not listed. Some say it is because the film got such a low rating from critics that it didn't deserve to be mentioned on the website. Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman are two of the biggest, hot shot actors in the film.

So you decide, IMDb or Coming Soon. Either way, I am one million percent positive that you will find the information that you are looking for.
